We often look at lighting and its management as the birth of an artwork. So many possible choices, many opportunities to manifest and highlight the ambitions of the space. We are delighted when a client chooses us as their signature artists to implement lighting solutions for their existing artworks. This time there was an opportunity to emphasize the DNA sculptures of Northway Biotech.
Since there are two sculptures, one of them at the main entrance, the other - along the third floor of the building, we wanted to combine them as a single element. The company's logo has both cold and warm shades, so we used RGB and neutral colored lights, with the help of which we were able to reproduce these colors. The possibilities of placing the lamps were somewhat limited, especially in relation to the large sculpture on the balcony, so we were looking for the best solution in the layout of different scenarios. After longer discussions and searches, we reached solutions that, in our opinion, highlight the volume and complexity of the sculptures. RGB lights are installed in their inner part, while neutral colored lights are installed on the outside. By using narrow-angle lights, we allowed the light to "slide" around the outer part of the sculpture, thus not mixing the accented light flow emitted by the RGB lights on the inside.
Next came the issue of lighting control. Since RGB lights have the ability to change the shade of the color they emit, we wanted to give the customer the opportunity to do this when needed, but without being burdened by complicated control panels. So it was chosen to use Casambi controllers. These devices allow you to control the lights, program them, and set preset scenarios with just one push of a button. It is a technology using bluetooth connection, so everything can be controlled remotely using a switch or a mobile app. And so that you don't have to watch when it gets dark outside, Casambi devices have digital GPS locators, with the help of which the device not only knows exactly where it is in the world, but also allows you to gradually turn it on and off when it gets dark or bright, optimally saving energy.
